Programming
We encourage partnerships with community groups and individuals to contribute and develop original programming. We do have broadcast standards and guidelines that apply to our programs. If an individual has an idea they must submit a detailed proposal to the executive director of Jones Television. Once the proposal is approved, a pilot program is taped and reviewed and a decision is made whether to include the program in the monthly line-up. A 12 consecutive month agreement is required as well as;

* Programs must be either 30 minutes or one-hour in length.
* Programs must be compelling with solid visual elements of high production quality
* Programs containing promotions of local commercial products/services, lotteries or direct appeals for funding by a for-profit organization will not be accepted.

Jones Television broadcasts educational programming through the Annenberg /CPB channel in conjunction with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Programming includes series in areas of high school and college curriculum and professional development. Notable series include: A Biography of America, Destinos, French in Action, Journey North, The Mechanical Universe and The Western Tradition.

Cultural entertainment is offered through our broadcast of the Classic Arts Showcase. It is designed to bring the classic arts experience to the largest audience possible by providing short video clips of the arts, in hopes to tempt the viewer to go out and take advantage of the variety of arts available in our local community.

In addition, Jones Television fills a niche in the community by producing local programs hosted by experts in a variety of fields and by our talented staff members. These productions are shot in our studio or on location.
